The Mining Industry Human Resources Council’s (MiHR) Canadian Mining Workplace Profile (2024) profiles Canada’s mining workforce to better understand its characteristics, highlight key trends in important topics such as equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI) and identify where the workforce could be vulnerable to shifting trends in technology and labour demand.

The Canadian Mining Outlook 2024 provides an update from last year’s seminal report. This review finds that most key indicators have cooled down from 2023 levels, yet not enough to alleviate labour tightness concerns.

The Mining Supply Services sector, an essential part of Canada’s mining industry, is largely under analyzed due to its overlap with other mining subsectors. To better appreciate and understand this critical area of mining, this report examines the leading occupations that comprise the sector and highlights several key labour market trends related to the sector’s workforce characteristics.
