WEBINAR: Automation and Accommodating Persons with Disabilities

CIM Knowledge Exchange Webinar

Technological advancements are reshaping the nature of work in mining, with automation’s potential becoming increasingly evident. This webinar looks at automation from another angle, by exploring the potential of automation to foster a more inclusive mining workplace for persons with disabilities (including physical, learning, or mental health-related disabilities). It presents insights from MiHR’s initial research exploring the opportunities that automation presents for enhancing integration of persons with disabilities into mining workplaces, including the results of a literature review and interviews with sector stakeholders. This session provides an opportunity to explore the connection between automation, diversity, and inclusion within the mining sector and how technological advancements can reshape workplaces, making them more inclusive, equitable, and empowering for all.

Objectives of the webinar:

  • To present the key findings of MiHR’s research concerning the potential for automation to enhance inclusion of individuals with disabilities (including physical, learning, or mental health related disabilities) within the mining industry.
  • To understand how automation contributes to diversity, and inclusion when it comes to accommodating persons with disabilities within the sector.
  • To support the sector in accommodating persons with disabilities.
