Overview

The Canadian Mining Certification Program (CMCP) is the first – and only – national mining certification program of its kind in Canada. It is the industry-standard for validating the skills, knowledge, and experience of workers in the mining sector. The CMCP allows individual mine workers to demonstrate their expertise by meeting the National Occupational Standards established for the Canadian mining industry.

Standing Committee on Certification

The Standing Committee on Certification is to oversee the implementation, management and administration of the Canadian Mining Certification Program (CMCP) to ensure that it continues to address industry’s requirements and remains relevant and practical. In addition, it explores alternative ways that National Occupational Standards (NOS) can be used by industry stakeholders to help develop the required skills and competencies of its workforce. It is comprised of employers, employees, educators and representatives of industry organizations and associations.
