Overview
The Canada-Australia Mining Skills Exchange (CASE) is a two-year project led by the Mining Industry Human Resources Council (MiHR) and funded through the Government of Canada’s Global Partnerships Initiative.
Running from April 2026 to March 2028, CASE is exploring opportunities to strengthen mining sector education and workforce exchanges between Canada and Australia. The project is examining existing research, exchange opportunities, stakeholder needs and barriers to participation with the goal of identifying opportunities for future exchanges.
The Canada-Australia Mining Skills Exchange (CASE) Project aligns with the Government of Canada’s Global Partnerships Initiative (GPI) to advance international collaboration on critical minerals, strengthen allied supply chains and promote Canada’s leadership in responsible mining.
A Phased Approach
CASE is being delivered in four phases to build an understanding of the current landscape, explore opportunities for exchange and identify recommendations for future collaboration.
Steering Committee
CASE is supported by a Steering Committee that brings together representatives from government, industry and post-secondary education in Canada and Australia.
